The Birmingham Senior Mental Health Lead Network is a dedicated and supportive community for school staff responsible for leading mental health initiatives. Meeting once per half term, this network provides a valuable opportunity to connect with other Senior Mental Health Leads, share experiences, and exchange best practices. Each session will focus on key themes related to whole-school mental health and well-being, featuring expert speakers, practical workshops, and collaborative discussions.
Network members will gain access to up-to-date guidance, resources, and strategies to enhance mental health provision in their schools. The meetings will also provide a safe space to discuss challenges, seek peer support, and explore solutions together.
New Birmingham Schools Self Harm guidance - Consultation
In line with the City’s wider suicide prevention priorities, Public Health, working alongside statutory and voluntary and community sector partners, is developing a new self-harm guidance and support toolkit for schools.
As part of the development process, Anna will share key elements of the emerging guidance and facilitate discussion to test its relevance and usefulness in practice. This will provide an opportunity to identify any gaps, explore what additional support schools may need, and help ensure the final resource is practical, accessible and responsive to the realities schools are managing.
The guidance is expected to be launched later this term.
