BEP Blog – Issue 81 – 18 March 2019

Good Morning Everyone,

I thought I would bring you an update with a couple of future events you may well be interested in. Three primary schools in the city volunteered to be part of the new Ofsted framework pilot. We have asked them to feedback to you all on the experience and the challenges it presented. I have booked a room at The Beeches on May 2nd, 2019. We are planning to run two sessions if demand for places is high. I envisage the session will last a couple of hours. To book your place(s) please visit the events section of our BEP website. If a secondary or special school has been involved in the pilot, I would love to hear about it and involve you in the event.

Following on from this, we have decided to run a pilot CPD for schools expecting an inspection under the new framework next term, with a view to rolling this out as an offer for all schools next academic year. The CPD will be for the HT and 2 subject leaders covering preparation for the inspection including evidence around quality of education, the vision and various curriculum tools.  We will also be providing support for subject leaders on talking to inspectors. It will be led by Jo Clifton a Headteacher in the city who was part of the pilot and is a serving Ofsted inspector, so bang up to date with the new framework. We are also planning to hold a number of one day events for subject leaders on the new framework during the coming year.  For these events we will prioritise schools expecting an inspection. There will be a cost for these events, but we will make them as cheap as possible as if you book in numbers we will clearly have economies of scale.  We have asked 15 schools to be part of the pilot and most have agreed, and I will let you know dates for the Autumn Term as early as I can next term.

Hope we are providing you with useful things.

Have a good week everyone and you know where we are if you need anything.
