Good Morning Everyone

I hope you had a good weekend and are looking forward to getting some family time next week.

On the BEP newsletter last week there was mention of the local history competition that we are running. Just in case you missed it (it was tucked away at the bottom) I thought I would bring it to your attention. We want children to find an innovative way of telling the story of ‘The 3 Gold Men ‘ (Matthew Boulton, James Watt and William Murdoch) and/or ‘The 3 Famous Marys’ (Mary Sturge, Mary Barrow and Mary Lloyd) of Birmingham. Any primary school can enter. It can be done as a class, an out of school club or even a homework/ half term activity.

We want children to find out:

Who are these people? What facts can children gather about one or more of them? What makes them famous? The children then devise a way of telling us what they have found out that would interest visitors to Birmingham.

The winning school gets £500 of vouchers to spend at Peter’s Bookshops and the runner up £250 of vouchers for Peter’s. Winning work will also be displayed in the Council House and the winning child/children having a guided tour.
