Good Morning Everyone,

I hope you all had a good weekend.  Last week we had a really excellent CPD day for Primaries on Vocabulary from Jean Gross and from Gary Wilson on Raising Boys Achievement.  As part of this several excellent books, tools, initiatives were recommended.  Here are just a few to consider:

A book called ‘Developing Reading Comprehension’ by Clarke et al

A tool kit to use in EYFS and KS1  from The Communication Trust called ‘Communication Supporting Classroom observation tool’
https://www.thecommunicationtrust.org.uk/resources/resources/resources-for-practitioners/communication-supporting-classroom-observation-tool.aspx

An initiative called ‘No pens day Wednesday’ also from The Communications Trust.  It runs annually in October however there are some great ideas for improving the quality of vocabulary which staff would find really useful at any time of year. https://www.thecommunicationtrust.org.uk/projects/no-pens-day-wednesday/

A web site called Voice 21 https://www.voice21.org/ has some very powerful resources on oracy.

A great question to tell parents to ask their child when they come home from school “What was the best question you asked at school today?”

To finish an inspirational thought to start your week:

“Give them the words so they can unclench their heart”
Have a good week everyone and you know where we are if you need anything at all.
