Good Morning To You All,

A very warm welcome back to the start of this new academic year. I really hope you had a good holiday and managed to forget about school for a little while, we all know how quickly it becomes a dim and distant memory!! “It is already”, I can hear a number of you mutter through clenched teeth!!

I would also like to welcome all our new Headteachers who may be new readers of my weekly school improvement blog. Hopefully we have managed to get everyone’s email right!

At the end of last term, the unvalidated KS2 results came in and while figures will change we can see some real impact of your work and schools involved in SSIF1 and 2 in particular. Such successes always make me so glad I get to work with you all. I will be sharing a summary of results and school improvement plans for this year at our conference later this month so please come along and see the impact for yourselves!! To book a place – or several for day 2 – (only £50 per additional person on the 2nd day) which is full of brilliant half day conferences including a morning with Andy Buck on leadership and a chance for you to benefit from the superb Tony Whatmuff on the most effective ways to teach children reading inference skills, which are just 2 among at least 10 other sessions to choose from) or to find out what else we have on offer please click below.

Date for your diary for Primary School leaders: Families of Schools event. This event is free and will take place at Edgbaston Cricket Ground on Friday 12th October, 9.30 – 12.00. Please let’s try to get someone from every infant, primary and junior school there. Last year we got 150+ schools, however this still meant that some families felt more like orphanages as there were only 1 or 2 schools sat there! It’s very hard to collaborate for school to school improvement if we don’t have all schools there. We will be basing the session on KS1 data this time and you get your copy of the 2018 KS1 data. Please send someone along as it makes the session so much better if every school has a representative there.

In the meantime, have a good first week back at full throttle and you all know where we are if you need anything; just ring!

My very best wishes to you all
