Progression, Metacognition and Illustration | Wednesday 21st April 2021 | 13.30-16.00pm
Lilli Whitham – a keynote on her captivating, charming and colourful work in illustration, drawing upon nostalgic influences from her own childhood and with references to popular illustrators such as Quentin Blake. She will also discuss how illustration and comic book techniques can play a crucial role in supporting art learning and literacy.
Andrew Fox
– a bitesize session on the principles of progression in art focusing in on the development in the 7 key art areas with a sample skills progression framework. He will also take a look at metacognition with teachers and discuss what it means in relation to children and art. 

Culture and Community | Wednesday 20th October 2021 | 13.30-16.00pm
Tereza Buskova – a keynote to teachers on her practice through the craft, tradition and rituals of other cultures which she reinterprets and celebrates through interdisciplinary work in performance, print and video. Tereza will also highlight her successful collaborative community projects with Eastern European women’s groups and visual art workshops for schools exploring the practice of lesser known European artists as part of the art curriculum.
Andrew Fox – a bitesize session on the concept of culture at primary phase and discuss through his school review work, how he helps settings strategically plan for culture across the curriculum, for ‘cultural capital’ knowledge within subjects, through parental engagement work and through partnerships with organisations.

Photography, Graphic Design and Digital Media  | Wednesday 2nd February 2022 | 13.30-16.00pm
Gareth Courage – a keynote on his comprehensive, extensive and very distinctive work in design, in both an educational and commercial context. He will also be discussing the importance of design in primary phase education and offering tips to teachers as to how to incorporate this into the art curriculum.
Andrew Fox – a bitesize version of his primary photography module. This will cover how to introduce children to photography and visual language and will look at example projects he has undertaken with primary children and teachers around the midlands. 

BIRMINGHAM SCHOOLS: £40 per session or book all three for just £100.

NON-BIRMINGHAM SCHOOLS: £50 PER SESSION OR BOOK ALL THREE FOR JUST £130

Delegates who up book all three sessions will be invited to attend an additional free twilight session. This will be an opportunity for delegates to ask questions of our resident facilitator, Andrew Fox in order to further develop confidence and gain reassurance about implementing some of the approaches explored during the network sessions.
