Birmingham Royal Ballet: Music & Dance – an introduction for schoolchildren

A perfect introduction to ballet and the orchestra for children from Early Years to Year 6

We’re on a mission to introduce our amazing, heart-stopping, funny, dramatic art form to as many young people as possible and we’d like to offer you and your pupils the opportunity to join us as our guests* for a fabulous afternoon of music and dance on Friday 13 May

The show starts at 1pm and lasts just over an hour with curtain down at approximately 2.15pm.

Meet conductor Philip Ellis and host Shireenah Ingram, who first worked with BRB as a 15-year-old when she was one of the cast of BRB and Channel Four’s groundbreaking Ballet Hoo! project.

Phil and Shireenah will introduce the instruments and musicians of the 60-strong Royal Ballet Sinfonia, and some of BRB’s brilliant dancers, who’ll be giving pocket-sized performances of classic moments from The Sleeping Beauty, La Fille mal gardée, Mother Goose and other world-famous ballets!

Senior students from Birmingham’s Elmhurst Ballet School will join us on stage to dance a specially created version of Cinderella, following Cinders as she takes her incredible journey from rags to riches.
